The ArcIMS Service window.

After you installing the mapviewer.mxp extention you should be able to find an extenstion in Macromedia flash menu.
Open Macromedia Flash and open a new flash document. Then go under

Window->Other panels->Arc IMS services.

A window like this will appear.

Enter your IMS server name and press Ok. No crossdomain.xml is needed on the IMS server because the application runs out of a internet browser.

The first list are all available and visible map services.

Click on one of the map services and wait until you see a little arrow next to the service. Click on the arrow and you will see all the Layers under this service.

Under every layer you will find the fields. The bottom window will show you all available details for every service, layer and field.

You can get a view of the current map by simple clicking on the "view map" button. The button apears when you have selected a service.

Every action you perform on the map will also give you all event information that happens from the Mapviewer object. This should help you understand the behavior of the mapviewer component. You will also receive the latest bounding box of the represented map. This is very usefull if you want to start of in a particular area hardcoded from the flash application.

You can also try a selection by first selecting a layer and the use the button "test selection". The result of the selection will be shown in the output window.
