The aquarium project.
We had an old TV drawer where my stereo was put into and we found we need
to make a little change to that. The stereo should go to the computer room
because we only listen these days to the internet radio.
An empty drawer is not going to look good but what do you do with a
drawer that has no front and no back.

Let's make an aquarium of it was the idea and so we start looking around
until we found a good guy that was willing to make an aquarium container
specific towards our needs. First we thought we would make sweet water one
but soon we changed our mind after seeing to wonderful sea world.

After puzzling a couple of months I finally put it together. It looks
really cool especially when the fish and surrounding will be improved. The
water quality wend Ok in 4 weeks, the rocks where not treated and I was
first worried this might create a problem.
My problem, and still, is the temperature. The old drawer is from such
good wood that it keeps all the head inside. The pumps and lights warm the
water and we end up with temperatures over 30 degrees. Step one was adding
ventilators in the back. I found some old computer fans that are very quit
but that isn't enough.
I get +0.3 degrees every 20 minutes. So I added a chiller called
"ice-bear" but the stupid ting makes to much noise. (I hate noise of
engines). My next trial is an old car cooler. I put 2 coca cola bottles
inside and connected them with tubes. Currently this doesn't seem to work
but I give some time since it is only running like this for 10 hours.
But a salt water aquarium has a lot of pumps and filter equipment so we
needed to build another drawer behind the aquarium.

Mathew and me working on a first draft of this drawer.
After 6 weeks we start to get a lot of algae and my aquarium expert
advice me to get my first fish. a "Lawnmower Blenny".

A flashed the poor guy with my camera. Me stupid forgot to turn it off.
We called him Kamikaze because he is our first one and I had never an
aquarium in my life. In the first 5 days he ended up in my filter system so
I needed to find a way of blocking the entrance. In less then 2 days he
eaten all the algae.
The fish worked so well that the organic waste was piling up on the sand.
Cleaning the sand only possible where there are no rocks so we needed some
other animals to help us out. We got a sea star and a snail but the 2
animals are most of time not visible because they hide themselves under the
sand.
But we could not resist our self to buy this wonderful sea shell.
